Sights & Activities...
Le Nid Pennol is perfectly located within easy reach of the major tourist attractions of the Midi-Pyrénées region : Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2010, Cordes sur Ciel, perched upon its hill, Moissac; Villefranche de Rouergue; Toulouse … all no more than an hour’s drive.
Several villages that are members of the ‘Plus beaux villages de France’ network (the most beautiful villages in France) are situated nearby: Bruniquel, Castelnau de Montmiral, Puycelsi...
And we mustn’t forget the magnificent forêt de Grésigne which is just on the doorstep – 3500 hectares of forest, home to red and roe deer, foxes and more. Then there’s the wine of Gaillac, for all those who love this sparkling-bright wine.
From the house you can set off on the discovery of the surrounding countryside via numerous walking paths (Gilles can accompany you if you like) or cycle routes. You can even take to the water in a canoe and obviously the car is another option (we are located on the ‘circuit des Bastides du Tarn’ scenic drive) !
You can also take a stroll around the neighbouring villages : Vaour (former Knights Templar seat), Montricoux (Marcel Lenoir museum), Larroque, Roussayrolles (church decorated by a master artist from the eastern tradition of sacred art) , Bioule (château), Caylus (‘maison des loups’, covered markets, church), Milhars, (fortified gates, winding streets), le Riols (dovecotes, Romanesque chapel), Négrepelisse (ruins of 13th century château, 15th century bell tower, watermill).
You’ve probably understood by now that your week’s stay will go by quickly, especially if you add in a little lazing by the swimming pool or in the garden !
